Katalin Hausel was born in Hungary, and spent the last 25 years living in many different places. Over the years, she has gained 3 Masters degrees (in history, in philosophy, and in fine art). After making and teaching art for more than a decade, she turned away from the art world in 2014, and joined the unMonastery, a social experiment in reimagining monastic communities for the 21st century, as a way to connect rural and urban ways of life. Ever since she has been working on various social transformation projects. What connects these spheres for her - the sphere of art, and the sphere of social innovation -  is the intention to reflect on what is present, and to provoke people into seeing the past and the present in radically different ways, in order to find new futures. What makes them different is the shift from critical commentary to an embodied way of living that enables collective change.

At collaboratio helvetica, she is the co-host the 4th and 5th edition of the Catalyst Lab, supports Catalysts in the development of their projects, and co-creates new Catalyst Labs in various contexts. As a dedicated discipline-roamer and paradigm-shifter, she is interested in exploring how to craft situations, tools and spaces for transformation and learning, on an individual, organisational and societal level.
