Catalyst Nils Landolt - SDG 4 & 9
Our world is constantly changing. Don't we need a new skill set? "Today's schools in Switzerland mostly prepare our children for a world that no longer exists. If this continues, we will face major societal problems," says Nils Landolt. The 32-year-old from Näfels (GL) is not only about to found a new school, but also lobbies for a free choice of school throughout Switzerland via his platform schulwandel.ch. Schulwandel.ch is a contact point for all those who want a new education system. Nils founded the platform together with Catalyst-Lab participant Markus Roos. "On the one hand, we have thus created a space for the exchange of ideas and for those interested in education to work together and, at the same time, we can show on a political level how many parents are interested in a different type of school for their children," explains Nils. Together with his wife he is working on a concept for a new school, the LernHaus Sole. The school focuses on the human being and stands for a new way of learning. The insights gained from this work as well as the applied formats at LernHausSole are shared on schulwandel.ch. Nils and his wife want their knowledge to become accessible to all: "Within our network we figure out how we can create a learning environment that meets the needs of all learners and empowers them to find their way in an ever faster changing society so they can take responsibility for themselves". Nils has benefited from the Catalyst lab not only by building up a large network, but also by learning new methods and tools: "In my projects I use various instruments from the Catalyst Lab. My knowledge of Sociocracy, for example, helps us enormously to structure our team.” Nils is working on making the free choice of school possible for everyone one day and thus changing the educational system - towards a school form that will let children build on their very own potential and see their strengths rather than working on their weaknesses.
