Catalyst Leslie Burkhalter - SDGs 10 & 14

Leslie Burkhalter is a talented networker and weaver. With her authenticity and genuine interest in other people, she creates connections that inspire and motivate others. As a social worker, she researches new methods to actually reach children and adolescents and enable them to stand in their power and see themselves as a valuable contribution to a changing social system. "I want to find out how we can work with children and youth who fall through all the social structures to ensure their wellbeing, support them accurately and harness these learnings for systemic change. Society and its needs are changing at a speed that social work institutions are struggling to keep up with." The 30-year-old aims to give impulses and to create moments for a conscious shaping of life not only for adolescents in times of crisis, but also for others with her project NEANI. As an experience educator, outdoor guide and free diver, she knows about the power of nature for personal development. As part of BaselWandel she creates and maintains space for the joint creation of a sustainable living space. She is now successfully integrating the Theory U process into her network together with Catalyst Lab participant Eliane Kern.

During the Catalyst Lab, Leslie increased her self-awareness and has developed a more holistic approach of how she can actually contribute to societal change within her possibilities. „ I have realized that I love to bring different stakeholders together and host dialogues to get a better understanding of how complex our current situation is and how we can work towards a more inclusive social system."

Leslie has used this precious gift in all her projects to create self-sustaining networks and connections. „I take the time to just listen and accompany people in their process of finding out how to navigate through their inner ocean - being nomadic in nature is an expression of the experienced inner journey. This is my true calling. The Catalyst Lab has been a huge step forward for me, my work and all my projects."
